Road Routes
If you are avoiding the toll roads use the N routes and look
out for the peripherique/bypass around each town. There are toll roads which are faster but you can have your time checked
at entry & exit - please take care. There are few static cameras in France but there are mobile units who will expect
you to pay an instant fine (failure to pay can lead to an invitation to the local station & impounding your car). Directions
& quality of motorways are excellent in France with plenty of places to stop "en plein air". Fuel on the motorways tends
to be expensive - it pays to buy at the supermarkets near the major cities.
